LG Appliance Error Codes โ€” Complete Guide for Fargo Homeowners

LG Washer, Dryer, Refrigerator & Dishwasher Error Codes Explained

Quick Answer: LG appliances display error codes like OE (washer won’t drain), UE (unbalanced load), LE (motor error), IE (water inlet issue), and tE (thermistor/heating error on dryers). Many LG error codes can be cleared with a reset or a simple fix. Others indicate part failure. This guide covers the most common LG error codes we see in Fargo homes and what to do about each one.

A Note on LG d80/d90/d95 in Fargo

LG dryers with Flow Sense technology display d80, d90, or d95 when the vent is partially or severely blocked. In Fargo, we see these codes spike every winter โ€” specifically when vent condensation freezes and restricts airflow. The d95 code in particular indicates severe restriction and you should stop using the dryer until the vent is cleared. Running a dryer with a d95 code is a fire risk.

See our dryer vent cleaning page for more on Fargo’s vent icing problem.

LG Refrigerator Error Codes

Er FF: Freezer fan failure ยท Er CF: Condenser fan failure ยท Er IF: Ice maker fan failure ยท Er IS: Ice maker sensor failure ยท Er dH: Defrost error ยท Er FS: Freezer sensor error.

LG refrigerators with Er FF or Er dH should be diagnosed promptly โ€” these indicate cooling system issues that will result in temperature problems and potential food loss. See our LG refrigerator repair page.

LG Error Code FAQs

My LG washer shows OE and won’t drain โ€” what do I check first?

First, check the drain filter โ€” it’s behind a small access panel at the bottom front of the washer. LG front-loaders accumulate debris (coins, lint, small items) in this filter and it can completely block drainage. Put a towel down, open the filter cap slowly, let the water drain, and clean the filter. If the machine still shows OE after clearing the filter, the drain pump is likely failing โ€” call us.

My LG dryer shows d80 every winter โ€” is that normal?

It’s common in Fargo but not normal โ€” it means your vent is significantly restricted. In winter, that restriction is often ice. Clean the vent (or have us do it) and the code should clear. If it keeps coming back every cold snap, we may need to look at your vent routing to see if it’s especially prone to icing. See our dryer vent cleaning page.

Does LG UE always mean there’s a problem?

Not necessarily. UE can trigger on a legitimate unbalanced load โ€” especially small loads with a single heavy item like a towel or jeans. Try redistributing the load and running the spin again. If UE appears consistently even on normal balanced loads, the suspension or drum bearing may need attention. Call us if it’s recurring.
