How to Find Your Appliance Model Number
A Quick Guide — Finding the Model Number Speeds Up Your Repair
Where to Find the Model Number — By Appliance
Refrigerator
Open the fresh food (refrigerator) section door. Look on the left or right interior wall, typically near the top. It may also be on the ceiling of the refrigerator section. Some models have the tag behind the crisper drawers at the bottom.
Washer (Front-Load)
Open the washer door. Look inside the door opening on the machine side — usually on the left or right inside of the opening. It may also be on the back panel.
Washer (Top-Load)
Lift the lid. Look on the inside of the lid itself, or on the rim just inside the lid opening. Some top-loaders have the tag on the back panel near the top.
Dryer
Open the dryer door. Look inside the door opening on the machine side — same location as a front-load washer. Some dryers have the tag on the inside of the door itself.
Dishwasher
Open the dishwasher door completely. Look along the top edge of the door opening (the frame or tub side), or on the inner door panel. For some Bosch models, the tag is on the left side of the door interior when fully open.
Range / Oven (Freestanding)
Open the storage drawer at the bottom of the range. The model tag is often on the frame visible when the drawer is removed. Alternatively, check inside the oven door frame or behind the anti-tip bracket at the back.
Microwave (Over-the-Range or Built-In)
Open the microwave door. Look on the interior frame — usually the left side or top inside the door opening. Some built-in models have the tag on the back, accessible from below.
Freezer (Chest)
Look inside the chest along the upper interior wall, typically near the lid hinge area. Some models have the tag on the exterior back or side.
What’s the Difference Between Model Number and Serial Number?
The model number identifies the product line and configuration — it’s what we use to look up parts and the service manual. The serial number identifies your specific unit and can tell us the manufacturing date. Both are usually on the same label. When calling for service, the model number is most important. The serial number helps us verify the manufacture date when the age of a part matters. Have it ready when you schedule your repair.
Why the Model Number Matters for Your Repair
Appliance models within the same brand can have completely different internal components. A Whirlpool washer from 2015 and a Whirlpool washer from 2019 may share a brand name but use different motors, pumps, and control boards. Having the exact model number lets us look up the correct parts before we arrive — which is how we avoid “I’ll have to order that and come back” situations. We stock parts for the most common models in our service area, but knowing your model number in advance is how we get the right part on the truck the first time.

Call NowModel Number FAQs
I can’t find my model number anywhere — what do I do?
Call us anyway — we can often work with the brand and approximate year to identify the most likely parts. You can also check if you have the original owner’s manual or purchase receipt, which usually lists the model number. Searching “[brand] model number location [appliance type]” on Google with your specific brand is another good option.
Why is my model number tag worn off or unreadable?
This happens, especially on older machines that have been in humid environments (like a laundry room). If the tag is completely unreadable, the brand name and purchase year are the next best thing. We can often narrow down the right parts from those two pieces of information.
Do I need the model number to book service?
No — you can call or book without it. The model number helps us prepare, but it’s not required to schedule a service call. We’ll identify the model on-site during the diagnostic if needed.
